Race #1: Hawaii Kai to Sand Island – A CHANGE RACE for big kids 18 and under.
The crews for this race can be all juniors, or a combination of juniors and adults. However, a minimum of 4 juniors per crew is mandatory. The concept is based on 9 person crews, but coaches can choose to have more than 9 paddlers per crew if coach deems necessary or appropriate.
- Course: Start off the beach in Hawaii Kai, round the last green channel marker, go AROUND DIAMOND HEAD BUOY, enter the main channel at Sand Island, finish on the beach fronting the paddling site at Sand Island.
Race #2: For Juniors: MINI IRON DISTANCE RACES for kids 15 years old and under. During Race #1, there will be short (1.5 and 2.5 mile) mini distance races in the lagoon at Sand Isle for keiki that don’t participate in Race #1 (Similar to the George Perry Keiki Race): For kids 12, 13, 14 and 15 years old. Male, female and mixed can participate. Some canoes are available from the local clubs. Please inquire with race director ahead of time if you need to borrow a canoe.
- Course: There will be a 1 mile rectangular course fronting the paddling site at Sand Island. Keiki 12 and 13 years old will race 1.5 laps. Keiki 14 and 15 years old will race 2.5 laps.
REGISTRATION AND ENTRY FEES.
Race#1: Register crews online at www.flpregister.com.Check-inn race day is in Hawaii Kai from 7:00–8:30 a.m. Race starts at 10:00 a.m. $15.00 per paddler pre-registration online until midnight July 06. $25.00 per paddler late registration.
Race #2: Register individuals online at www.flpregister.com. Individuals can race multiple events with one entry. Check-in race day is at Sand Island from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Race starts at 11:00 a.m. $10.00/paddler pre-registration online until midnight July 06. $15 per paddler late registration. - Open Mixed: 5 Female any age and 4 Male paddlers. Adults can be male or female.

- 7:00 – 8:30 a.m. Beach check in / Late registration
- 10:00 a.m. Start:
- At least 4 Juniors must start and finish the race.
- At least 2 Juniors must be in the canoe at all times.
- 20 minutes before first change. Last change before entering the channel off Sand Island.
- Lunch and awards to follow.
Race #2: Please inquire with race director ahead of time if you need to borrow a canoe.

- 12s and 13s may race simultaneously depending on number of entries and available canoes. 14s and 15s may also race simultaneously depending on number of entries and available canoes. Mixed will be the last event of the day and will be 1.5 laps (1.5 miles).
