2025 Kanaka Ikaika Racing Association – Preview

  • New sponsors for 2025:
                
  • JN CHEVROLET OCEAN RACING SERIES; aka the Poai Puni Racing Series, comprised of 8 races: #1 – 7 and 9. Points will be awarded to paddlers in their respective courses (Long and Short) where your top 5 races will be selected.
  • LANIKAI BREWING CO. along with their Kailua Brew Pub will title the Oahu Championship.
  • HAWAIIAN ISLAND CREATIONS will title the HIC Town 10 (mile) Triangle that starts and finishes at Magic Island.
  • Laura Young Financial Advisor with EDWARD JONES will sponsor the Na Wahine Ikaika in October.
  • MANU IWA O KA MALANAI is the makai watch for DLNR to help restore the fisheries on Windward Oahu and have specifically attached themselves to the Lanikai Cold Pack Classic.
  • Manu O Ke Kai Canoe Club will partner with KIRA and Haleiwa Joes to run the North Shore Downwind race over the summer, on July 26.
  • The 48th annual MOLOKAI CHALLENGE will be on May 25.
  • IMI OLA CANOE CLUB will be resurrect the RACE FOR HAWAII’S FUTURE on July 06, which is a juniors OC6 distance race that allows adults to join with juniors in the name of sharing knowledge and developing the youth.
  • NEW COURSES. This season there are a few courses that are either new or have not been run for a many number of years:
    • Anchor Systems Waimanalo 8 is a figure 8 starting and finishing at Waimanalo Beach Park that goes around both Rabbit Island and Moku Iki Island off Lanikai. 12 miles.
    • HIC Town 10 Triangle will challenge all the disciplines from Magic Island to Diamond Head Buoy to Kewalos and back.
    • Lanikai Brewing Co. Oahu Championship will host an aggressive 17 mile course from Kailua to Kahana Bay, conditions permitting.
    • Ozone State Race will, conditions permitting, return to the course starting at Waimanalo Beach, going around Rabbit Island and finishing at Magic Island – Hawaii Yacht Club.
    • Imi Ola Race For Hawaii’s Future, an OC6 junior development race from Hawaii Kai to Sand Island. Iron and/or with water changes.
  • HAWAIKI NUI VA’A:  The IHCA (International Hawaiian Canoe Association) will again support its Team Hawaii to compete against the world’s best in the 3 day, 4 island race in Tahiti.  To qualify for an opportunity to be considered you must prove yourself in OC1 races throughout the 2025 racing season.
